SPANISH cities are using SelectaDNA to protect everything from agricultural equipment to street furniture to street lighting against theft.
Farmers near Catalonia are to use SelectaDNA to protect agricultural equipment following a spate of robberies in the area where equipment worth five million Euros was stolen.
Meanwhile, Santa Coloma de Gramanet is the latest Spanish city to use SelectaDNA to protect street furniture and cable. The town is using DNA Trace to mark outdoor items after theft and repair costs in recent months were estimated at over 100,000 Euros.
In Valencia, a three month trial of SelectaDNA by the city council resulted in a 100% reduction in theft of copper wiring from street lights. The council has now decided to extend the trial to include the areas of Maritimo and Campanar.
