Wolverhampton Police is recommending the use of SelectaDNA to mark tools, especially those left in vans by tradespeople.
In November 2021, Wolverhampton Police Partnerships announced a property marking success story on
Twitter involving a haul of tools worth £14,000 that were stolen from a vehicle and subsequently returned
to two local businesses because they were able to be identified.
A police spokesperson says: “When your whole livelihood is in one vehicle, it is even more important to think
how you can keep your van and its contents safe.”
They recommend security marking tools and any other high value property, and making sure serial numbers are
registered on SelectaDNA’s Secure Asset Register. This enables police to trace tools that are recovered after
being stolen and allows them to be returned to their rightful owners
