A World War Two veteran from Widnes, Cheshire, welcomed police when they visited his home on a DNA marking crime prevention campaign.
The 92-year-old was delighted to have his property protected as part of Operation Shield, which uses SelectaDNA forensic marking kits. The kits contain a DNA liquid with a unique code registered to each address. The liquid can mark personal belongings such as electronic equipment, jewellery and even war medals.
It means that if anything is ever stolen police can immediately identify the owner via the secure SelectaDNA database.
Widnes police tweeted this photograph saying: "This remarkable 92-year-old WW2 Farnworth veteran humbled us by saying we made his day while visiting with Operation Shield."
