Liverpool Marks International Security Officers Day with SelectaDNA Defence Spray Training
As part of a shared commitment to tackling retail crime and enhancing the safety of shopworkers and security staff, SelectaDNA was proud to support International Security Officers Day in Liverpool City Centre on 25th July.
In a joint initiative between Liverpool City Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team and the Liverpool BID Company, SelectaDNA Defence Spray training was delivered to Security Officers from Asel Security - equipping them with a unique tool to deter criminal behaviour and forensically link offenders to specific incidents.
The SelectaDNA Defence Spray is an innovative forensic marking solution designed to assist in identifying and prosecuting those involved in retail theft and violence. When deployed, the spray tags offenders with a uniquely coded synthetic DNA that remains traceable on skin, clothing, and items for weeks - providing compelling evidence for police investigations.
Strengthening Frontline Security
Sergeant Craig Winstanley of the Liverpool City Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team expressed strong support for the rollout, stating:
“Security Officers are pivotal in our efforts to tackle retail crime, and I’m grateful to SelectaDNA and Liverpool BID Company for supporting the Defence Spray training as part of International Security Officers Day.
The sprays forensically link that offender(s) to a particular crime or incident within the store which will support our investigations into these offences and hopefully bring more offenders to justice.”

The rollout of SelectaDNA Defence Sprays builds on ongoing collaboration between Merseyside Police, the Liverpool BID Company, and city centre security teams.
